Bottle Shock is a movie starring Alan Rickman and Chris Pine. It's based on a true story about a British man in Paris setting up a blind wine taste to compare French to American wines. Chris Pine plays Bo, whose father owns a Nappa Valley vineyard hoping to break free from their bad luck streak and make a their humble business into a success.
I must admit, I chose to watch this movie tonight in part because Alan Rickman is in it. It looked like the sort of fun and lighthearted movie I could get into, but alas, I found it very dull. There wasn't even as much Alan Rickman in it as I was expecting, which is highly disappointing.
The movie really had potential, but I found the plot to be incredibly weak, the characters weren't fully developed and Chris Pine wore a distractingly bad wig. It wasn't horrendous, but I would not advise watching this movie, even if you love wine.
Personally, I feel like if the character's stakes were higher, and the transformations were emphasized closer to the middle of the film, it would have turned things around for me. Bottle Shock played the same beat for much too long.
On the other hand, the landscapes were stunning, and Alan Rickman was in it...
I give this movie two vikings crying rainbow tears.
