Arm Candy Chronicles- Week 4

Welcome to the Arm Candy Chronicles- Week 4! The collection is up, and if you would like to see it, please click HERE! In the last post I gave you a teaser of one of the bracelets. Well now that they're all out I want to show you and explain the concept behind the fashion film.
If you want to see the film before reading my creative choices, please click HERE! If you want to read about the video before watching it, please read on, but don't forget to click that link! The choice is yours, and there's no right choice. There is a wrong choice however, and that is if you forget about watching the video. Okay, I'm going to stop pressuring you and get right to the goods.
Some words that come to my mind about arm candy include: feminine, beach, trendy, modern, and young. Some words that contrast those words are: retro, old fashioned, classic. The juxtaposition of a modern trend in the retro video scrapbook is tied together with the beach (since this is a summer collection). I wanted this video to appear like a home video of young adults at the beach that could transcend eras.
I know that's a tall glass to fill, but especially in an age of Instagram, and Vine, that idea just seemed to resonate with me. There's something very human about wanting to share and connect with others through shared experiences (like spending a day at the lake) and that need isn't a modern one. It transcends generations. Just like wearing jewelry. Just like bows. Just like macreme, and braiding, and knitting.
I know I'm no Sophia Coppola, but it made sense to me, and I learned a lot of new things while playing around. I hope you enjoyed this month as I took you along on my creative journey! Thanks so much for stopping by! See yeh!

Arm Candy Chronicles- Week 3

Hello there!
So this week has been crazy-pants for me. I finished all of the bracelets, and took pictures of them today in fact. Below you will see one of the final products. I'm sure you'll notice that it looks a little different than last week's picture, and that's because I decided that I wanted the ends to be cleaned up. I really wasn't into the frayed edge look, but I am into bows. I mean, bows are perfect, aren't they?
There was something about putting bows on the bracelets that made it look like it fit in with the other items on my shop. Am I becoming a crazy bow lady? I guess it doesn't matter. There's no limit to how many bows you own, you know!
Anyway, back to work. I'll check in one more time next week and let you know how it's going.
Take care!

Arm Candy Chronicles- Week 2

This week is special because I actually have a picture of the first few items of my collection to show you! How exciting is this? It’s like Christmas morning without most of the fun…
Anyway, let’s get down to business (I bet a lot of you just finished that sentence with “to defeat the Huns” and that’s more than okay with me). I have completed three groups of bracelets that can either be sold together or separately. It’s pretty exciting because it’s different than anything else up on my shop, and it’s just fun to try something new. The colours are so summery and I really do enjoy the process of macramé. They’re great because they’re so light and easy to pair with other bracelets you might own, but durable enough to wear them EVERY SINGLE DAY.
I think I mentioned in the first blog that I made some test bracelets for myself. Well, not only to I like to wear them constantly because of their versatility, but I also frequently pair them with my favourite infinity bracelets. I don’t even need to choose between the two styles because they layer so well.
I don’t mean to toot my own horn. It’s more of a compliment to the trend, and I’m merely a fan of it. I think layered bracelets are great for anyone who isn’t so used to wearing jewelry (like me) because you can easily pair them with a variety of clothes. They’re so easy to slip on and forget about.
Now with regards to the marketing campaign, I’m going to leave it a bit of a surprise. Let’s just say that it will give you all those warm and cheery summer feelings you’ve been missing. And without further ado, below is your first glimpse at my new collection. Enjoy!

Arm Candy Chronicles- Week 1

This month I am working on my summer collection consisting of bracelets for my Etsy shop, Lively Loops. Because of this, it seems fitting to write about my week to week process and show you what I personally do to complete a collection. I’ll have a post for every week, and this would technically be week one because I say so!
At this stage, I have the game plan for the bracelets. I know what I want to do with them, I’ve made practice ones and have even worn them for the last couple of weeks to test out their durability. That’s the easy stage.
The harder stage is coming up where I have to plan my marketing campaign, meet my deadlines and actually create all of the products. It’s like Game of Thrones, except nobody would want my throne, and instead of fighting wars or having dragons, I’m always on the look out for cats who want to rub up against my work. It can, however, be very similar to Game of Thrones in the sense that I play intense music to “set the mood” while I work.
So what am I doing this first week? Well, first of all, thanks for asking. Your interest and vocalization of such interest is always appreciated. Please feel free to vocalize more in the comments section.
This week I will be working on the creation of the products. Now, I won’t get it all completed, but I will be getting a large portion done. Hopefully I’ll also come up with a marketing scheme to make you all entranced and seduced into buying my arm candies. That can be a little more difficult as each collection is unique and needs unique videos, pictures and social media postings, but…meh. I’ll get an idea eventually.
So far it’s a slow start, but once I get into the zone there’ll be no stopping me! You could physically tie my hands behind my back, but I’ll keep making the bracelets with my mouth. It would be kind of sloppy and drool soaked, but you get the idea.
